Come celebrate Earth Day by joining us in The Race Against Extinction 5K Race and Bear Cubs 1K Kids Run. We are looking for Cheetahs (experienced and first-time runners), Kangaroos (parents with strollers), bear Cubs (Kids under 12 for the 1K), Tortoises (walkers) and even Sloths (those who cannot attend or will not be running or walking or able moving in general from their couch but still would like to help support and protect their fellow species!)).
The race begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 18, 2015 in scenic Vilas Park near the reknown Henry Vilas Park Zoo. The Race will be chip timed. The entry fee is $30.00 ($15 for Bear Cubs) and proceeds will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund. Race entry includes a VERY cool shirt. Come join us and make a positive impact for Earth Day this year!
The Race Against Extinction is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to generate greater awareness of the need to protect our planet’s endangered plants and animals, raise money for the habitat preservation funds of established international conservation groups, and – perhaps most importantly – have FUN!
We encourage all types of athletes and non-athletes to participate. If you have never run a timed race before, here is your chance. If you think that you are fast you have a great chance at winning one of our coveted lost and found and recycled Hub Cap trophies by placing first in one of our many categories. The Race Against Extinction tries to ensure that it’s events are as green as possible including our the fabled lost, found & recycled Hub Cap Trophies.
We look forward to seeing you Saturday, April 18th at Vilas Park!
